Movie review: Ice Road Truckers: Season 1
Simple movie reviews highlighting plot, acting, and technical specifics of a movie, series, or documentary. I avoid comparisons preferring to judge each film on its own merits. Preference for horror, sci-fi, suspense and comedy.

Movie review: Asylum
Movie Review: Asylum
After moving into their new dorm, 6 college students learn that their dorm used to be an insane asylum whose chief doctor, Burke, performed an unusual medical procedure on his patients. As the students begin seeing things and disappearing it isn’t long before they realize Burke is still roaming the halls and now considers them patients.
Carolina Garcia (Maya), Ellen Hollman (Ivy), Joe Inscoe (Mackey), Cody Kasch (String), Jake Muxworthy (Holt), Sarah Roemer (Madison), Mark Rolston (Burke), Randall Sims (Rez).
This one is really a mixed bag. The plot is nothing stunning or very original but it does play pretty well. What saved it however was the quality of the production. Nicely done camera work and very good sets put this a step above a B-movie. Special effects were also decent, as was sound and dialogue. Gore factor also supported this one with a few nice "EWWW" shots. If it weren’t for those things this would be a solid B-movie entry and nothing but bland. Acting was competent by most everyone involved.
If you are a horror fan you will likely find some pleasure in this one if you can overlook a few holes in a mature plot line. If not, pass on this one and find a better quality entry.
Some pretty intense violence, disturbing images, language, and some brief nudity in this one so save it for older teens and above.
