A spooky collection of stories featuring a strange Father's Day celebration, a weird meteorite, a savage monster in a crate, a plethora of cockroaches, and a story of revenge. Directed by George Romero with help from Stephen King the collection is a campy and silly as it is spooky.

This is a fun little collection of stories that toss in a bit of campy silliness to go along with the creepiness and BOO moments. Stephen King himself stars in the meteorite segment while Leslie Nielson, Ted Danson, Ed Harris, and Hal Holbrook star in others. The Father's Day segment was okay but not very interesting. I really enjoyed the meteorite and monster in a crate segments. Meteorite was a bit unusual and I enjoyed seeing King acting while the monster in a crate segment had some nice BOO and gore moments. The revenge segment was also nicely done and original.

Acting was mixed here with Harris and King both being obviously inexperienced. Barbeau played an evil woman superbly while Nielson did amazingly in a serious role supported by Danson who also did pretty good.

Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were okay though they are showing their age here. Overall quality is also suffering the effects of time. Dialogue and sound were good and I liked the comic book based theme of the film. Special effects were okay with some being a bit clumsy and others exhibiting very good quality.

Overall this is an enjoyable collection of stories that were done pretty well. The thing to remember is this is based on the comic book of the same name and does incorporate a fair amount of campy humor so it isn't just a straight horror flick.

With a fair amount of foul language, sci-fi content, horror and gore save this for older teens and above.
