This one was a continuation of Bruce Almighty with Jim Carrey. God tasks freshman Congressman Evan with building an ark in preparation of an impending flood.
Steve Carell (Evan), Morgan Freeman (God), Lauren Graham (Joan), Johnny Simmons (Dylan), Graham Phillips (Jordan), Jimmy Bennett (Ryan), John Goodman (Long), Wanda Sykes (Rita), Jonah Hill (Eugene), John Higgins (Marty).
Evan ends his TV News Anchor career by becoming a Congressman with the platform "Change the World". Once elected, God takes him at his word and makes Evan a modern day Noah. But while his fellow Congressmen view his behavior as erratic, possibly even mental, his family believes he is having a mid-life crisis and Evan plugs along on his ark. Along the way there is plenty of humor and enough plot depth to keep things interesting.
Acting was solid with Carell delivering his usual. Freeman was a good choice as God and delivered the laughs well. Sykes also added well to the humor and delivered nicely. Goodman was enjoyable, as was Graham, Hill, and the remainder of the cast. Carrey wasn't in this one and I missed him.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were solid and nicely done. Effects were good and only slightly over the top. Dialogue was funny but also moved the plot along nicely. Sound and soundtrack are solid.
Overall, this one makes a decent choice for family movie night, Kids will likely get a lot of laughs out of this one. While it isn't a good sequel to Bruce Almighty, the film stands by itself quite nicely.
Some mild comedy sexuality, comedy violence, and a couple of foul words, but this should be fine for teens and above.
