Taxi driver Harris realizes he is stuck in a time loop wherein after picking up a pretty woman in the middle-of-nowhere, who then disappears mysteriously, the loop starts over with a switch of the meter.
Gino Pesi (Harris), Brinna Kelly (Penny), Jason Stuart (Dispatcher), Jon Jacobs (Frail Man).
The Fare begins where else? The beginning of the time loop with Harris picking up Penny in a desolate area. They talk, there is a storm, Penny disappears, rinse and repeat. It sounds simple enough but there is lot more depth to this story. While the time loop theme is interesting enough, the relationship Harris and Penny develop adds a bit of color. And a twist or two toward the end finish this one off very well.
Acting was solid from both Pesi and Kelly and they seemed to work well together. Both delivered solid emotion throughout and were enjoyable to watch. Stuart was good in his role. The remainder of the supporting cast appears only briefly, but felt good.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were simple but fit the film perfectly refocusing the audience on the characters and story. Dialogue is interesting and gives just enough information to keep things interesting and the storyline moving. Sound and soundtrack are fitting and solid.
The Fare is a surprisingly well rounded film. Initially attracted by the time loop aspect, which is enjoyable, this one was found to have much more depth. The mystery remains strong even as the romance builds and the two fit together nicely. Fans of romantic mysteries should enjoy this one.
Nothing here to limit audience age.
