After a fatal confrontation with a customer four prostitutes, Cody, Anita, Eileen and Lilly, band together and set off from Colorado for a new life in Oregon. As tough as life is for a woman in the west, things get worse when they stop to withdraw money from a bank and run into bank robber Kid Jarrett who takes their money. Even with Pinkerton men after them, the girls are determined to get their money back and make a new life for themselves.
Madeleine Stowe (Cody Zamora), Mary Stuart Masterson (Anita Crown), Andie MacDowell (Eileen Spenser), Drew Barrymore (Lilly Laronette), James Russo (Kid Jarrett), Dermot Mulroney (Josh McCoy).
The plot of this movie is pretty good with enough complications added to make for plenty of activity and few slow periods. Blending the grit of the women with their sexiness and the discrimination of the day makes for both a light-hearted story and an emotional drama all at the same time. There was a good balance of action and drama and despite a few corny moments the movie flowed well.
Acting by everyone in the film was top-notch with good chemistry and excellent character development. Despite this being a fairly typical western, in my opinion the film stands out as much higher quality than most.
Camera work and sets were well done throughout as were sound and dialogue. Soundtrack was good if nothing special.
Overall this is a decent western well worth watching. Slide it in at the middle or top half of your Must See list.
Due to language, nudity, violence, and adult concepts, save this one for older teens and above.
