Jack is once again on the run, this time from undead Captain Salazar who has escaped the Devil's Triangle with a desire to destroy all pirates. Finding Poseidon's trident may be Jack's only hope.
Johnny Depp (Jack), Javier Bardem (Salazar), Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa), Brenton Thwaites (Turner), Kaya Scodelario (Carina), Kevin McNally (Gibbs), Golshifteh Farahani (Shansa), David Wenham (Scarfield).
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales brings us along on the continued tales of pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. This time around the undead Captain Salazar is bent on destroying all pirates and Jack is in his sights. As Jack searches for Poseidon's trident, and its possible salvation, we are carried along on a voyage of adventure, danger, and some decent sci-fi. With some laughs and action along the way, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales moves along at a good pace and like the rest of the franchise, is quite entertaining.
Acting was good once again, as we have come to expect from this franchise. Depp continued to deliver very well in a role with which he is quite familiar. Bardem made a good nemesis and fit his role well. Rush was good as usual, as was the remainder of the supporting cast.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds are well done once again with a large screen presence and wonderful variety. Natural scenery is nicely used throughout. CGI is well done, maintaining both a strong sci-fi feel and strange reality at the same time. Dialogue was good with some nice laughs and a good pace. Sound and soundtrack are solid as always.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales ends up being another enjoyable film in the franchise. Technical work and acting are well done and the film, like others, is highly entertaining. Those who enjoy the franchise should enjoy this entry as well.
With some very mild sexuality, action violence, mild foul language, and a lot of pirate rum, this one should be fine for teens and above.
