Malestrazza is a brilliant architect consumed by the philosophy and mythology of Egyptian construction, which he uses in his buildings, and which also resulted in his death. When one of his buildings is to be demolished engineer Sam is brought in to do the planning and discovers there is much more to the building than meets the eye, and she may be the next victim of its mysteries.
Mischa Barton (Sam), Cameron Bright (Jimmy), Deborah Unger (Mary), Sophi Knight (Julie), Pascal Greggory (Malestrazza), Darla Biccum (Liz), Eugene Clark (Burnett), Shannon Jardine (Maureen).
The film starts off pretty slow with a lot of character development and plot setup after which it starts tossing in twists and turns, building to a nice level of suspense. The plot is pretty solid and is presented well in the movie without many holes or inconsistencies making for a film that flows well. Though billed as a horror this seems much more of a thriller.
Acting is pretty good with Barton and Bright putting on very nice performances. Bright has great ability to be a freaky, scary character. Unger was good but a bit overdone while Greggory was spot-on in his role.
Camera work, sets, sound and dialogue were all nicely done. Sets were sufficiently spooky while technically supporting the plot structure.
Overall, despite how slow this one started, the film was a nice surprise. Not the best horror film but a pretty decent supernatural thriller worth a spot about the middle of your Must See list.
Some violence but no nudity or foul language so this one should be okay for older teens and above.
