While recovering from a suicide attempt, Ben falls in love with a girl who was almost his sister. From there, things start to get really weird.
Thomas Middleditch (Ben), Diana Bang (Tabby), Jess Weixler (Hanna), Johannah Newmarch (Dr. Franklyn), Eric Keenleyside (Norm), Nicole LaPlaca (Chloe), Randal Edwards (Joel), Marilyn Norry (Betty).
Entanglement begins with Ben's suicide attempts which are almost comical, such as theft of the car he was using to gas himself. Failing suicide, Ben has a renewed outlook on life and when he learns he almost had a sister, sets out to find her. When he does, he finds himself quickly falling in love. The rest of the film only gets stranger, including animated deer.
Acting was okay with Middleditch presenting well. Bang was solid and fit well with Middleditch, as did Weixler who delivered well. The remainder of the supporting cast was interesting.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds are fairly mild use of natural scenery and settings. Action is mild but fitting. Dialogue is pretty good and provided most of the entertainment. Sound and soundtrack are decent.
Entanglement is an interesting story but never feels like it reaches a good pace. Instead it feels like the story, along with Ben, bumbles along rather than having a solid focus. Those who enjoy slower-paced unusual romance films may enjoy this one.
With some mildly intense scenes, this should be fine for older teens and above.
