A four-part anthology of short horror films written and directed by women, and presented from a female perspective.
Too many actors to mention by name.
XX is a collection of 4 horror stories with a gender twist. Each film is female written and directed, with each lead actor being female, and the stories presented from the female perspective. Aside from the concept, the stories themselves are mixed. The Box launched well, then pretty much fell flat. The Birthday Party was a decent dark comedy. Don't Fall was pretty much mindless horror fodder. Her Only Living Son was the most interesting and well done but looked a lot like any other older horror flick.
Acting was decent from some, disappointing from others. There are simply too many actors to mention by name.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were enjoyable. Narrative CGI, between stories, was amusing and disturbing at the same time. Dialogue was mixed, but decent throughout. Sound and soundtrack were nice.
While the concept is admirable, execution didn't quite hit the mark. The stories are just not that scary, and even when they are they don't present as being very scary. Call this one mildly entertaining.
Some blood, and potentially disturbing images, so save this one for older teens and above.
