After spending the last thirty years avoiding becoming an adult and the Evil Dead, Ash is drawn back into the fight against evil when a Deadite plague threatens humanity.
Bruce Campbell (Ash), Ray Santiago (Pablo), Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly), Lucy Lawless (Ruby), Jill Jones (Amanda), Arielle Carver-O'Neill (Brandy), Lee Majors (Brock), Ted Raimi (Chet), Michelle Hurd (Linda), Joel Tobeck (Baal).
Spending the last thirty years avoiding adulting after the events of Evil Dead, a Deadite plague threatening humanity brings Ash back into the fight. What results are three seasons of fun, blood, gore, laughs, and a dark side that actually has a meandering plot. Sometimes.
Building on the original films, Ash vs. Evil Dead continues to deal with Deadite's and the Necronomicon using a heavy dose of crotch humor, a sea of blood and gore, and just about every weapon imaginable including of course, a chainsaw.
Acting by Campbell was spot on and perfectly fitting as always. Santiago developed well and brought some good depth to the series. DeLorenzo was interesting and delivered well. Lawless was well cast and did nicely, as did Raimi, Majors, and the remainder of the supporting cast.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds have matured in this series with solid sets, backgrounds, and good camera work on decent film. CGI and effects are wonderfully full of blood and gore almost without pause. Action scenes are very good with nice detail. Dialogue is campy, frequently out of context, full of crotch jokes, and a lot of fun. Sound and soundtrack are fitting with the overall theme.
If you enjoyed the original films at all you should enjoy this series as well. Likewise, those who enjoy a campy horror flick should like this one too.
With some fairly graphic nudity, prolific violence and detailed gore, some foul language, and adult situations, this really should be fine for teens and above.
