Intergalactic sociopath Thanos is back and attempting to acquire a full set of Infinity Stones. His goal; wipe out half of all life in the universe as a course correction for uncontrolled growth.
Robert Downey Jr. (Tony/Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce/Hulk), Chris Evans (Steve/Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha/Black Widow), Don Cheadle (James/War Machine), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Tom Holland (Peter/Spider-Man), Chadwick Boseman (T'Challa/Black Panther).
Avengers: Infinity War begins by bringing us up to speed on the Avengers and introducing us to Thanos and his sociopathic goals. The action comes fast, followed by moments of drama and plot evolution. The story gets more interesting as other characters are brought in, such as Guardians of the Galaxy, which complicates the storyline a bit. Marvel ties characters and storylines together across franchises so unless you watch them all, in order, there may be some references that make little sense. With everything now in place, the film finds a good pace and remains exciting to the end.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds are all nicely done with good detail and fit. Extensive CGI throughout the film adds depth to the characters as well as their environment adding to the big-budget big-screen feel. Action scenes are intense and while most are good, there are some in which action is simply too fast or detail is hidden. Dialogue was good though we would have enjoyed more humor. Sound and soundtrack are nicely done.
Avengers: Infinity War does a nice job of bringing together characters from previous films in a cohesive manner and continuing the storyline. At the same time there are so many characters many do not get a chance to present much. Fans of the franchise should enjoy this one.
With plenty of violence, intense scenes, mild sexuality and foul language, this should be fine for teens and above.
