All around tough guy Will Sawyer is working the private sector now, assessing skyscraper security around the world. Checking out and living in the tallest, safest building in China, the skyscraper is suddenly ablaze and Will must find a way to extract his family.
Dwayne Johnson (Will), Neve Campbell (Sarah), Chin Han (Zhao), Roland Moller (Kores), Noah Taylor (Pierce), Byron Mann (Inspector Wu), Pablo Schreiber (Ben), Hannah Quinlivan (Xia), McKenna Roberts (Georgia), Noah Cottrell (Henry).
Skyscraper begins with some backstory around Will and his family before moving to the main plot and action. While the action is good, and completely unrealistic at times, the story was lacking detail in general. With more detail things got a bit more interesting at the end and wrapped up with a Happy Ever After ending as expected.
Acting was decent with Johnson delivering his usual. Campbell was solid and worked well with Johnson and minor actors. Han, Moller, Taylor and the remainder of the supporting cast were solid.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were heavily integrated with CGI and nicely done. Action scenes as mentioned were over the top much of the time but enjoyable, entertaining, and intense at times. Dialogue was solid though we would have enjoyed more humor. Sound and soundtrack are good.
Overall Skyscraper is a decent Action & Adventure flick. The film is aimed at teens so while the plot may be simple and detail lacking slightly the film makes up for it with plenty of action and some mild comedy. A good choice for family movie night.
With a bit of foul language and some intense scenes, this should be fine for teens and above.
