The Founder is the story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who met the McDonald brothers and turned their innovative single restaurant into the largest restaurant business in the world.
Michael Keaton (Ray), Nick Offerman (Dick), John Lynch (Mac), Linda Cardellini (Joan), Laura Dern (Ethel), Justin Brooke (Fred), Kate Kneeland (June), Patrick Wilson (Rollie), B.J. Novak (Harry), Griff Furst (Jim).
The Founder begins well by showing us who Ray was before McDonald's. Quickly meeting the McDonald brothers, the plot begins to take shape and the film gets moving at a better pace. The story that unfolds is interesting and not without some drama, contention, and some bits of humor. Ray to McDonald's for the first time is hilarious. The story wasn't without a couple of twists that kept things interesting to the end.
Acting was good with Keaton being his usual quirky self. Lynch fit his role nicely and delivered as usual. Offerman was enjoyable and brought a strange charisma to the film. Cardellini, Dern, and the remainder of the supporting cast were solid and enjoyable.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds felt pretty good with only mild inconsistencies between the film and the decade in which it was set. Drama was pretty good with nice buildup. Dialogue was solid with good depth. Sound and soundtrack are simple but good.
Overall The Founder is an enjoyable film, billed as a biography, that tells a story probably not known by many. With solid acting, plot, and a good pace, those who enjoy a solid historical drama should enjoy this one.
With some mild foul language, preens and above should be fine with this one. Though I suspect older viewers will enjoy it the most.
