Stanley Hill has had enough. Crime has invaded his city, the criminals seem to be running things, and the police have let his wife's killer go free. Turning vigilante, Stanley finds the corruption extends far beyond the law enforcement level.
John Travolta (Stanley), Christopher Meloni (Dennis), Amanda Schull (Abbie), Sam Trammell (Gibson), Patrick St. Esprit (Merserve), Rebecca De Mornay (Vivian), Asante Jones (Walker), Paul Sloan (Lemi), Luis Da Silva Jr. (Charley).
I Am Wrath begins with some plot setup inline with character introductions showing us how Stanley's life and city is being destroyed by crime. When his wife's murderer is released by police with no charges filed, Stanley tips over the edge and becomes a vigilante with help of his friend, Dennis. As the two begin hunting criminals they find the corruption extends beyond local police. The remainder of the film is an action packed adventure of punishment.
Acting was decent with Travolta delivering in a role he has enjoyed before and manages well. Meloni, as usual, did a good job supporting. Sloan and Da Silva were both interesting and fit the film well. The remainder of the supporting cast was solid, engaging, and nicely varied.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds are fitting and feel genuine throughout. Action scenes, with mild CGI blending, are intense and enjoyable. Dialogue has good depth and fills out the story well. Sound and soundtrack are good.
I Am Wrath is a solid crime action film with the only downside being that the film looks a lot like other Travolta action flicks and brings nothing new to the genre. Those who enjoy a decent crime action film without requiring originality should enjoy this one.
With some nudity, foul language, plenty of violence and gore, save this for the oldest teens and above.
