After a night of hard partying five military veterans wake to find the zombie apocalypse is consuming the United States. They take it upon themselves to travel across the country in search of a cure and to restore order.
Sean Astin (Grigsby), Danny Trejo (Zombie Trejo), Keith David (Holloway), William Shatner (Chindler), Mindy Robinson (Eliza), Ross Patterson (Vandenham), Randy Couture (Zombie Couture), Tim Kennedy, Mat Best, Marcus Luttrell, Lindsay Lamb (Kesha), Rob Vardaro, Jack Mandaville.
Range 15 starts out fairly well with a nice appearance by Shatner while looking like a poorly made military film. The zombie apocalypse quickly launches and the film gets more interesting with quite a bit of humor while looking less like a military film. The remainder of the plot focuses on finding a cure and enjoying the humor which includes plenty of satire and military references. The film finishes pretty well with a few laughs.
Acting was a mess which worked perfectly for this film. Experienced actors Astin, Trejo, Shatner, and David all did pretty well and fit the film. Best was rough but did bring some laughs. Robinson was little more than eye candy. Patterson was over the top and silly fun. Kennedy, Luttrell, Lamb, Vardaro, and Mandaville were a bit rough but their inexperience actually fit the film.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds have a nice realistic feel. Effects and action scenes are fun despite some rough choreography. Dialogue is campy, corny, often poorly delivered, and again quite a bit of fun. Sound and soundtrack are tepid.
Overall Range 15 is a fun, campy zombie action comedy that brings more laughs than expected. Those who enjoy after dark humor or zombie flicks that avoid being serious should enjoy this one. Those wanting high quality effects or acting may be disappointed. Favorite line "Brilliant idea Tactical Tesla!"
With foul language, zombies, blood, gore, violence, and raunchy humor, this should be fine for teens and above. Teens are like the audience that would enjoy this the most.
