Katie has been haunted by paranormal activity in her past but now that she has moved in with her boyfriend Micah, he decides to do something about it. Using a video camera he documents as much of the strange happenings as possible over several weeks in 2006. As paranormal activity increases both Katie and Micah become more concerned with their safety and a way to end the nightmare.
This one starts off calmly enough but with the media hype we were ready for the scares. As character development progresses and the plot begins to take shape the tension mounts a bit and we were still ready for the scares. And when the plot really gets active, we waited for the scares. Then in the last few minutes of the film, we finally got some scares! This film was a serious disappointment compared with all the media hype. There were some BOO moments but there wasn't enough to keep the film scary, though it was interesting.
Acting was decent from Featherston who played the stressed out semi-frigid somewhat schizoid girlfriend. And Sloat did nicely as the seemingly intelligent boyfriend who turned into a testosterone powered jerk before all was done.
Camera work was decent and I did enjoy how this was filmed in the first person context as it lent to the feel of reality. Special effects were decent but again, there just wasn't enough to keep the film scary. Sets were minimal as was soundtrack giving the appearance of a low budget flick. Dialogue and sound were nicely done.
Overall a decent supernatural horror flick worth watching at home but not paying for at a theatre. If you really want to be scared find something else, this one just doesn't do it. With some foul language and BOO moments this should be fine for teens and above.
